Parent/Child Relationships (Uranus)
In the myth “Uranus”, I think that the parent/child relationships are very different than how they are modern day. My thoughts are that the parent/child relationships are very bad because in the myth “Uranus” Gaea and Uranus had six children and Uranus, the father, hated them. He hated them because he feared their strength. Uranus decided to take the children from Gaea and threw them into Tartarus. Then Gaea and Uranus had thirteen more children and Gaea raised them to hate and fear their father. When than children grew up, Gaea decided to use her titan children children as her means of revenge against Uranus and punish him by killing him. I think that Gaea and Uranus didn't have good relationships with their children. Gaea and Uranus could have talked about the fact that what Uranus did was wrong and they could have raised their children to love them. The parent/ child relationships now are much different because, first of all, children will not usually kill their parents, and second, the parents would probably just get a divorce if they disagreed with each other or couldn't find a solution. That is why I think that the parent/child relationships are bad in the myth “Uranus”

Apple of Discord
In the myth “Apple of Discord” it shows that they are very materialistic. Paris, the prince of Troy, was given a golden apple and whoever he gave it to was the fairest. There was Hera, Zeus's wife, Athena, goddess of wisdom, and Aphrodite, Goddess of beauty and young love. Hera offered Paris riches and glory, Athene offered Paris wisdom and power and Aphrodite told Paris he would have a beautiful wife if he gave the apple to her for she would marry him. Paris chose Aphrodite because he was shallow and he only cared about looks. Hera and Athene then disliked Aphrodite. The world in which we live in today is also very materialistic because everybody wants the best for themselves and always has to have the “newest iphone” or the newest style of shoes or clothes. I think that media is destroying and brain washing people, mostly young teens.

Why We Should All Be Like Hector (Troy)
I think that we should all be like Hector because he always did the right thing. Hector showed grace to Paris even when he ruined the alliance with Troy. Hector was the best brother and also the best son anyone could ask for. Hector loved his brother so much that he saved him from death. When Paris challenged the king to a duel over Helen. Hector killed the King when the king tried to kill Paris. Hector also loved his wife and his child. Hector never wanted or asked for anything for himself. He was a great warrior and fought in many wars. Hector fought the great Achilles and came close to winning but died a noble death and was a great man. This is why everyone should be like hector.

Love and Lust (Narcissus & Echo)
Love and lust are two very different things, love is an emotion where you love someone for who they are, their personality, love is not about looks or outer appearance. How you know you're in love is when, you fall asleep thinking about that someone, and when you wake up their your first thought, you miss then even though it hasn't been more than a day or so since you last saw them. But mostly, when you put their need before your own, when their happiness is more important than your pain. When you really love someone you're willing to give them your all. The word love is way overused theses days. People use the word love to explain how much they like something, eg. Movies, food, clothes etc. Its not the same as it used to be. The word lust ,as I said, is much different than love. Lust is a feeling of sexual attraction toward someone, judging on their outer appearance. Not thinking about that person's personality is, only looks. Lust is a very common thing today. In the myth “Narcissus and echo” it shows lot of lust . They only cared and thought about beauty and outer looks, in the end it did not turn out very well.

Loss of a Loved One
In my life I have lost a few people. My great grandmother died when I was twelve years old,
she was ninety-six. I knew her since I was born but I didn't really “know know” her. I cried a
little at her funeral and was sad but I knew that she went to a better place and that was a
good thing. The next year my grandpa got lung cancer and I was devastated. My grandpa had smoked all his life. He passed away that same year, he was sixty-nine year old and still had life to live. I loved my grandpa and I miss him so much. At his funeral I cried and was still trying to understand the concept of death and that he is never coming back. I still think of him and wonder what he would be doing if he was still here. When i was almost fifteen, my Aunt, Brenda, got a divorce with my uncle, Jon. I am related by blood to my aunt and not to my uncle so now i will probably never see him again. I love my uncle and I'm so confused to why my aunt divorced him. They seemed so happy together. My aunt said that she wanted to change the world or something and also see us, my family, more. She said that he didn't really let her do the things that she wanted. I really love my uncle Jon and I miss him everyday. I still want to see him and want them to be together. I will probably never see that happening again in my life. The losses of my loved ones have changed my life and are still changing it.

How Women are Represented in Myths
In myths women are represented very negatively. In the myths, women are made to seem like the bad guys. They’re always the ones who mess up and do bad things, sure the men do bad things too, but their mess ups get covered up by womens. Three women that are represented negatively in myths are Aphrodite, Pandora and Hera.aphrodite is vain pandora is evil and hera is jealous. (ESSAY**)

Divorce, insecurity, anger, coming of age
(Percy Jackson/Phaeton)
In Percy Jackson, Percy never sees his father because Poseidon is a God and Gods aren't
allowed to see their children. Percy Jackson went through times when he really needed a dad and
felt insecure or angry. percy Grew up not knowing who his father was and in his coming of age wanted a father to teach him things that his mother couldn’t. This story about Percy Jackson is much like real life, today, kids have to grow up without a mother because of divorce. The children and teenagers most likely feel like how Percy felt, insecure, angry, and possibly just alone. i dont’ think that kids should have to grow up without a parent. In the myth “Phaeton and the Fiery Steeds”, Phaeton also grows up without his father because Apollo is a God. Phaeton knows that his father is a God and tells his friends, but no one believes him. Phaeton felt insecure so he tried to prove it by stealing his father's chariot, but nothing turns out well. This story also represents divorce, Clymene and Apollo had Phaeton then never saw each other. Phaeton grew up without his father like Percy Jackson. Phaeton went through phases in his life, where a father would have been needed. Phaeton disobeyed his father and was angry because his father didnt let him prove to his friends that his father was Apollo. Apollo was just trying to protect Phaeton from getting hurt. Parents should be with their children to teach them things and watch them grow up into adults.

Greed (Midas)
There is so much greed in the world today. Everybody is wanting so much more than they truly
need. It is crazy how 20% of the world own 80% of the world's wealth. All the corporate greed is
taking over and people are being blinded by society. Like in the myth ''Midas'', Midas always
wanted more gold even though he had so much gold already. Once Midas had all the gold he could ask for, Midas wasnt happy just like it is now a days. People are always wanting more than they need.
